From an abandoned project by the great documentarian Errol Morris comes an unusually sedate Donald Trump reflecting on Orson Welles’s masterpiece of masterpieces, Citizen Kane.
Being one of a small handful of people who could have ever truly found a kindred spirit in Welles’s playboy-turned-politician Charles Foster Kane, Trump speaks from the heart. “In real life,” he says, “I believe that wealth does, in fact, isolate you from other people. It’s a protective mechanism.”
But of course, Trump’s gonna Trump so, when Morris asks him what advice he would offer to Kane, his answer is both succinct and totally expected: “Get yourself a different woman.”
