Warren Jeffs, the polygamist convicted of child sexual assault, has been hospitalized after not consuming enough food and water. He is in critical condition, and a source tells ABC News the 55-year-old head of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is in a coma and may not survive. Jeffs’s attorney, Emily Detoto, would not comment on any details. Jeffs is being held in protective custody, one of the most isolating forms of imprisonment, after he was convicted of sexually assaulting girls as young as 12 whom he later took for "spiritual brides." Jeffs had 24 underage wives, and is not eligible for parole until he reaches 100.
