The U.S. Secret Service on Wednesday said a woman attempted to jump the White House fence Tuesday but got stuck by her shoelaces and was promptly arrested. Uniformed Division Officers saw the woman walking around the White House before she tried to jump the fence on E Street, a statement from the agency said. She was then found dangling from the top of the fence, her shoelaces caught at the top. Officers helped her down but then arrested her, and she now faces charges of unlawful entry. Although the agency did not identify her, court records cited by the Associated Press identify her as 38-year-old Marci Wahl, a resident of Everett, Washington. Wahl has pleaded not guilty to the charge and faces another hearing next month. The incident follows a string of other attempted intrusions on White House grounds in recent days, with a California man arrested on March 10 after approaching an entrance to the residence. Days later, the Secret Service detained a man driving a “suspicious” car at a White House checkpoint after the man reportedly claimed to have a bomb.
