According to the World Health Organization, people should listen to one hour of music players at most each day in order to preserve their hearing. The organization claims that music players, concerts, and bars are a “serious threat” and that 43 million people between the ages of 12 and 35 have hearing loss. The proportion of U.S. teenagers affected by hearing loss has gone from 3.5 percent in 1994 to 5.3 percent in 2006. A grand total of 1.1 billion teenagers and young adults worldwide are at risk by listening to music “too much, too loudly.”
