UPDATE: As of 8:30 p.m. ET, Hillary Clinton was declared the winner of the Nevada caucuses, and Donald Trump won the South Carolina primary.
--
On Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, the presidential primary process continues as Democrats caucus for their candidate in Nevada while Republicans get out the vote in South Carolina.
The Silver State is the nation's first state in the West to voice its opinion on the nominations; while the Palmetto State will be the first-in-the-South to do so. South Carolina's voting is open, meaning any registered voter can cast a ballot in either of the major parties' primaries (the state's Democratic primary takes place on Tues., Feb. 23).
Both states play a key role in the 2016 primary, as Nevada shows a dead-heat between Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders; and South Carolina continues the fiery race between frontrunner Donald Trump and Sens. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio—the latter of whom just scored a key endorsement from S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley.
