WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was denied bail on Tuesday by a British judge. The judge said he has “substantial grounds” to believe Assange would try to skip future court proceedings. The 39-year-old Australian turned himself into Scotland Yard authorities on Tuesday morning but denies the rape allegations against him. He is accused of rape, molestation, and unlawful coercion during a trip to Sweden in August. But Assange and his lawyers say that the charges are due to a “dispute over consensual but unprotected sex.” In court, Assange also said he does “not consent” to being extradited to Sweden and will challenge the charges.
