President Obama released the CIA memos last week in order to help answer questions about interrogations, but it seems they may only be raising more. According to The New York Times, “there were signs that [Obama] might not be able to avoid a protracted inquiry into the use of interrogation techniques that the president’s top aides and many critics say crossed the line into torture.” Three Bush administration lawyers—John Yoo, Jay Bybee, and Steven G. Bradbury—are the subjects of an upcoming Justice Department ethics report. According to the Times, “The administration has also not ruled out prosecuting anyone who exceeded the legal guidelines, and officials have discussed appointing a special prosecutor.”
