Prepare for some big red hair whipping: Willow Smith is set to star in a new film adaptation of the Broadway classic Annie. The 10-year-old pop star and Hollywood progeny’s first single, “Whip My Hair,” went Platinum in 2010 and her parents, Jada Pinkett and Will Smith of Overbrook Entertainment, are partnering with Jay-Z for the remake, which is their first project together. Jay-Z is already familiar with the musical's hit songs, having remixed Annie’s original "It's a Hard Knock Life" in his 1999 Grammy-nominated hit "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem).” "The Overbrook Entertainment family and I have a unified vision,” said Jay-Z, who produced the young Smith's first album. “We've already produced a Tony Award winning play and we're developing a true superstar in Willow."
