Testimony by four former News International employees on Tuesday before a parliamentary committee in London claims that James Murdoch, the News Corp. chairman’s son, was indeed shown the explosive email that’s at the heart of the phone-hacking scandal at News of the World. The paper’s former editor Colin Myler and legal manager Tom Crone said Murdoch was shown the notorious “For Neville” that proved the phone-hacking operations were more than the actions of one “rogue reporter,” the editor Clive Goodman. The testimony is contrary to what Murdoch told Parliament earlier this summer. The former employees also said former News Corp. chief executive Les Hinton did authorize a payment to Goodman even though Goodman had pleaded guilty to a criminal offense.
