A federal judge awarded $229,500 to a Texas woman who received 153 robocalls intended for someone else, even after she repeatedly asked them to stop making calls. U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein ordered Time Warner Cable to pay Araceli King, who said she received the numerous automated calls in less than a year. The judge said the company violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 with its “particularly egregious” behavior. Hellerstein added that 74 of the calls were made after Time Warner had received a copy of King’s lawsuit in March 2014. Time Warner spokeswoman Susan Leepson said the company is reviewing its options.
