Three women who worked at Goldman Sachs are suing the Wall Street giant, claiming that the firm discriminated against women in its hiring and promotion practices. They are bringing their suit on behalf of all female employees. The three are also seeking personal remuneration, asking for payment for damages because of emotional distress and humiliation. "We believe this suit is without merit," a Goldman spokesman said. According to the suit, of Goldman's 34,000 employees, 29 percent of vice presidents are female and 17 percent of managing directors are women. The firm says those numbers aren't correct. Goldman was last in the public eye for a suit filed by the SEC, claiming the firm misled buyers of mortgage-related investments. Goldman agreed to pay the largest fine in Wall Street history—$550 million—to settle that case.
