A K-9 officer named “Kina” was found Friday morning alive but wounded in Arkansas after a gunfight that killed a sheriff's deputy Wednesday morning. The German shepherd was found two miles from the scene of the shooting with bullet wounds on her neck and back, said Greenwood Police Chief Will Dawson. After Kina was found still wearing her bulletproof vest by her handler, Cpl. Dennis Wisner, she was brought to a veterinarian, who found bullet fragments still lodged inside the dog’s body. Had she been shot two inches lower, Kina would not have survived, the vet says. She’s dehydrated but is receiving fluids and expected to make a full recovery.
