Wyclef Jean Owes IRS $5 Million

This sounds like just the kind of leader Haiti needs: Wyclef Jean owes the U.S. government $5,278,430 in back taxes, according to court records. CBS News says he owes the IRS money on properties in New York, New Jersey, and Florida. More specifically, from 2006 through 2008, Jean allegedly failed to pay state liens of more than $2.1 million for his New Jersey home. Jean has previously come under pressure for financial-management problems, too: Earlier this year, the Wyclef Jean Foundation, set up to aid Haiti after the devastating earthquake, used more than $410,000 to pay for rent and other personal services.
