Less than one week after Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh announced he would step down, the country on Saturday set Feb. 21 as the official presidential election. Saleh agreed last week to U.S-backed agreement that required him to hand over power to Vice-President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi within 30 days, and to set an election within 90 days. Meanwhile in Yemen, a security official said Saturday that Yemeni warplanes had killed 80 anti-government tribesmen over the past 48 hours in the region of Arhab, north of the capital of Sanaa. The tribesmen reportedly had overrun a military camp.
