A white van mounted a curb and killed 10 pedestrians in Toronto, Canada, about 1:30 p.m. on Monday before fleeing the area, police said. Shortly afterward, authorities reportedly found and arrested the suspected driver, whom multiple reports have identified as 25-year-old Alek Minassian. Sixteen people were also injured in the incident, police said. Photos from the scene showed blood stains, abandoned shoes, and at least one body covered in a tarp on the sidewalk. “There has been a very tragic incident at Yonge Street and Finch Avenue,” Mayor John Tory told reporters. “My thoughts are with those affected by this incident and the frontline responders who are working to help those injured.” Subway service in the city has been partially halted, and the area near the incident has been closed to traffic. “Our thoughts are obviously with all of those affected,” said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday. “We are still gathering information... we will keep Canadians updated.”
